University of Central Arkansas Trombone Studio
Study
The University of Central Arkansas is an exciting place to study trombone! Whether your interest lies in being a band director, professional musician, elementary educator, or college professor, the UCA trombone studio has a place for you. Scholarships are offered to talented undergraduate and graduate students regardless of their major. UCA also has an outstanding graduate program, and numerous assistantships are available each year.
Experience
Music Majors at UCA will have the opportunity to participate in many different ensembles while in school. All trombonists perform in the BearBones Trombone Choir and can also audition for the Natural Slides Trombone Octet, which is made up of the top six tenor trombonists and top two bass trombonists at UCA. Students will have the opportunity to participate in trombone quartets, brass quintets, orchestral section coaching, and many chamber ensembles, as well as perform in the Wind Ensemble, Conway Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Bear Marching Band and several Jazz Ensembles.
Guest Artists
Each year the trombone studio hosts several different guest artists who interact with the students and present recitals and masterclasses. Recently we had the privilege of hosting Tony Baker, a UCA alumni and trombone professor at the University of North Texas, Peter Ellefson, trombone professor at Indiana University, the Maniacal 4 Trombone Quartet, Brian Hecht of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Sean Nelson of the U.S. Coast Guard Band, and university professors Jason Hausback, Lucas Borges, Jon Gill, and Ben Osborne.
At the University of Central Arkansas students will find world-class faculty, talented students, and a beautiful campus, all in a welcoming and vibrant community. We hope you will consider joining our trombone studio here at UCA. If you have any questions please feel free to email Professor Justin Cook at [email protected].
